This women’s empowerment poem is written to inspire and uplift women and daughters. Empowerment means raising strong women mentally, physically, socially, and financially enhancing their status through health, education, awareness, inclusion, and financial independence. True women’s empowerment is essential for a peaceful and prosperous world.
History is full of remarkable women leaders, such as Hazrat Khadijah (r.a.), Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Obama, Ruth Pfau, and Serena Williams. Despite numerous challenges, Serena Williams, the tennis queen, not only survived but thrived, becoming a true warrior. She revolutionized women’s tennis with her powerful style, winning 23 Grand Slam singles titles the most in the Open Era and the second most of all time. “I believe those who stay strong during hardships and survive under pressure are true warriors,” says H. A. Tepha.
We begin this women’s empowerment poem, “A Woman, A Warrior,” with Serena Williams’ inspiring words: “I think a champion is defined not by their wins, but by how they can recover when they fall.”
Please note: In this poem, the writer symbolizes the word “game” as a metaphor for life.
A Woman, A Warrior
Must be wondering,
How does a woman become a warrior?
At this very moment,
Let me be open with you.
She fell badly, yet got up.
Not the fall, but the comeback speaks.
Getting up to face life again isn’t easy.
Becoming a warrior isn’t easy.
Firmly, she has faced turmoil and tohubohu,
Learned to survive, and became a warrior.
Remember, those who played the game well
Have learned to survive well.
To take it back,
To hold it back,
The rules of the game
She has learned all that.
Remember how strong you are,
Learn the game,
Set healthy boundaries,
Follow the rules, and start to play.
Do your best; leave the rest to the Deity.
Quite honestly, if you do so,
Embrace serenity
And enjoy the ease.
I must say,
To survive, to heal, to thrive,
A woman, a warrior,
Must place tawakkul in God Almighty.
